There are actually 2 ways of doing the fix, which I found on the internet. I take no responsibility whatsoever on this.
Please read below for details.
Method 1
apt-get install x11vnc
Reboot.
Start vncserver : (where display_number is your display : 1 for first, 2 for second, …)
connect via tight vnc to IP: (or IP:590x) – where x is your display number
Start /usr/bin/myth-control-center from command line
Enable VNC
Add vnc password
reboot system
connect via tight VNC on port 0
Works.
Method 2
Moved System|Preferences|Appearance|Visual Effects from Normal all the way down to None. VNC works.
